Publicis is in good financial health. The French communications giant recorded record results in 2021, surpassing its performance in 2019, i.e. before the health crisis, thanks to its technological investments, he announced on Thursday February 3. Its net profit thus jumped by 78.3% to reach 1.03 billion euros, while its turnover rose by 8.8%, to 11.7 billion. “We are thus exceeding our 2019 results earlier, and at a higher level than expected”, welcomed the chairman of the management board, Arthur Sadoun, in a press release.
For the current financial year, the company anticipates “organic growth of between 4% and 5%”, with “an operating margin rate and free cash flow (free cash flow, editor’s note) at the same record level as ‘in 2021’. In 2020, the group’s net income was notably affected by the integration costs of its technology subsidiary Epsilon, acquired a year earlier and specializing in personalized advertising.
With growth of 12.8% in 2021, it now contributes “significantly to the performance” of the group, underlined Publicis.
Publicis Sapient, a subsidiary dedicated to digital transformation consulting that has been undergoing restructuring for two years, also contributed to the revenue dynamic, with growth of 13.8%. Arthur Sadoun also welcomed the signing of new contracts with giants such as Meta, Stellantis, or more recently McDonald’s in the United States in early 2022.
