How much does the 2022 Kia Niro EV cost?

Virtually unchanged since its introduction in 2017, the Kia Niro will be renewed from the ground up for the 2023 model year.

Currently, the Kia Niro “still constitutes an excellent value on the market,” says columnist Antoine Joubert, who points out that the plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions are eligible for government subsidies.

Regarding the 100% electric Niro, it is equipped with a 64 kWh battery which allows it a range of 385 kilometers. When the mercury reaches -5 and -10 ° C, the autonomy drops by about 25% at 300 kilometers, according to the columnist.

Plugged into a 240 V terminal (level 2), the Niro takes 9.5 hours to fully recharge its battery. The time is reduced to 1h15 minutes or 54 minutes using a fast charging station of 50 kW and 100 kW respectively.

The Niro EV comes in three distinct versions. The EX is devoid of the heat pump as well as the battery heating system. These technologies are found on board the EX+ and SX versions.

On the road, Antoine mentions that the Niro EV “isn’t very exciting to drive”. The vehicle produces 201 horsepower and an instant torque of 291 lb-ft.

Inside, the columnist underlines the “interesting” driving position as well as the comfort of the seat. However, he notes a lack of height adjustment for the electric seats.

In addition, Antoine appreciates the excellent visibility, the ergonomics of the passenger compartment and the quality of finish. Finally, the multimedia system incorporates a 10.25-inch screen and has compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
