Lexus: sales up in Europe in 2021

The Japanese manufacturer sold 72,441 vehicles in Europe in 2021, figures up 2% compared to 2020.

Last year, the premium car market was down 2% compared to 2020, due to the health crisis and shortages of electronic components. In this context, Lexus performed well by reaching a record market share of 2.3%, while increasing its sales by 2%.

In total, these are 72,441 copies of Lexus models that were sold in Europe in 2021, with no less than 96% of sales in Western Europe represented by electrified models. Since the launch of the RX 400h in 2005, its first hybrid model, Lexus has sold more than half a million electrified vehicles in Europe.

Lexus: 20 new launches by 2025

In detail, the Lexus LC range is up 53%, thanks to the launch of the convertible silhouette. The recently facelifted Lexus LS sedan is also up 46%, while sales of the Lexus ES sedan are up 19%.

But it is unsurprisingly SUVs that are preferred by European customers: nearly nine out of ten Lexus (87%) sold in Europe are SUVs : the Lexus UX was sold at 21,144 copies, the Lexus NX was sold at 19,493 units, while the Lexus RX recorded 18,346 sales.

The new generation of the Lexus NX is launched at the start of 2022, and will help boost sales for the brand. Then, Lexus will launch or renew 20 models by 2025, starting in the first half of 2022 with the arrival of the Lexus RZ 450e, the brand’s first 100% electric model developed on a dedicated platform.
